THE ABLE TARGET SYSTEM®

Module 1: Prevention & Trauma-Informed Practice

Covers prevention, proactive management and responses to behaviour. It goes deeply into understanding people, positive approaches, changing mindset, preventing escalation/ reducing distress, and de-escalation.

Module 2: Personal Safety & Breakaway Skills

Physical skills to protect staff from hazardous behaviour. They will learn about their legal rights, defence from strikes and a selection of techniques to disengage from a variety of grabs and attacks.

Module 3: Positive Handling & Lawful Physical Intervention

Teaches staff a sequence of guiding and restraint techniques that are suitable for their setting. Also covers the law, risks of physical intervention and risk analysis.
